History of the Blue North Initiative

The Journey

The Blue North Foundation (BNF), known as Blue North Initiative in Nigeria / Canada, a non - Government, non - profit Organization was officially established in 2021, emerging from a profound commitment to combat one of humanity's most pressing issues: human trafficking. Recognizing the alarming rise in human trafficking cases and the devastating toll it takes on individuals and communities, the founders of BNF aimed to create a robust non-governmental, non-profit organization that would serve to enlighten the public, empower communities, and build capacity for sustainable change.
With a dual incorporation in Canada and Nigeria, the BNI was strategically positioned to address trafficking on multiple fronts. The founders, a diverse group of advocates, social workers, and activists, drew inspiration from their experiences witnessing the heartbreaking consequences of trafficking and exploitation.

They believed that education and awareness were pivotal in preventing such human rights violations. The mission of the Blue North Initiative became clear from the outset: to enhance public awareness of human trafficking and develop effective preventive measures. The BNI envisioned a world where individuals and communities were equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves and others from the scourge of trafficking.
This vision was shared through public campaigns, community workshops, and collaborations with local organizations. The BNI distinguished itself by emphasizing dignity, respect, and empowerment in its messaging, recognizing that the fight against trafficking is not merely a legal issue but a humanitarian one.
